Kindergarten (age 5)

Pre-Primary 1

My name is Arielle May and I am the teacher in Pre-Primary I. My assistant is Maria Summa. We are beginning our fourth year working together and are so excited to begin this year with your children. I graduated from Marywood University with a dual degree in early childhood and elementary education. I had the pleasure of learning the Montessori Method at the Tony Domiano Center while completing my undergraduate work. I use all the tools and techniques learned through school and my experiences to help your children grow.

We have 15 children in our full day kindergarten class and I am so excited to work with each and every one of them. I know that your children are going to become great learners with a love for education through our individualized approach, using the Montessori method, some traditional kindergarten teaching methods, and the Intelligences of Howard Gardner. Each child in my class will work at his/her own pace to become a well-rounded and bright individual. We will focus not only on academics, but whole intelligences and social aspects.

Together we will make this a great year. I so look forward to working with your children!

Pre-Primary 2

I am Jaci Sandercock and my aide is Pita McFarland. This is the 14th year that Pita and I will be working together. I graduated from Marywood College and am certified as a Pre-Primary Montessori teacher.

The past few years, PIta taught Spanish to the Pre-Primary and Primary classes but now Pita will be with me full time. Yeah!
We are always excited about starting the school year. Along with the academics, seasonal works such as apples, pumpkins, and leaves are on our schedule of fun. Also, our first unit will focus on what is specific to each child eg. favorite food, favorite color etc.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year.

Pre-Primary 3

My name is Sara Wintermute and I am the classroom teacher. This is my seventh year at HGS! Marilyn Caputo is our classroom assistant and she has been with the school for thirteen years. Sara graduated from Lycoming College with an Elementary Teaching Certification and a BA in History. Together we look forward to helping your children grow, not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well!

We have 15 kindergarten students in our classroom. We are excited to get to know all of our new friends. We will be sending our homemade “Meet Our Class” book home with our students to help everyone get to know us! Please look for it in your child’s backpack and please return it to school the following day.

Our classroom is a balance of Montessori based activities/lessons that provide learning for the multiple intelligences while aligning to the Common Core.

Our specials this year will include: Science, Mandarin, Music, Art, Spanish, and Gym. Please remember to wear sneakers on Monday for gym.

We look forward to having a very busy/exciting year! If you have any question or concerns, please let us know!
