Spanish is taught to all grade levels at Howard Gardner MI Charter School. Students are divided between two classrooms; Pita McFarland teaches grades Pre-K through 2nd and Pamela Kobierecki teaches grades 3-8. To find out more about the classes, check out the tabs below!
Bienvenidos! (Welcome!) Me llamo Pita McFarland. This is my 14th year with Howard Gardner. I have been instructing Spanish for 7 years. This year I’ll be working with Pre-K thru 2nd grade. The Pre-K will learn colors and family. Kindergarten will review colors and family and will expand their Spanish vocabulary. First and 2nd grade will review previous materials and expand into fruits and vegetables.
I am excited of being in a new building and sharing a room with Mandarin!
Any questions or concerns please call or e-mail me. Gracias! (Thank you!)
My name is Pamela Kobierecki. I teach Spanish to the Intermediate, Upper and Senior classes and hold a certification to teach Spanish to grades K-12. I attended Luzerne County Community College, and then graduated from East Stroudsburg University. My experiences teaching students have been varied; I taught in a one room school house in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala for three years, then returned to the United States and taught in several different private and public schools in the Scranton area.
This is my second year teaching at HGMICS and I am very pleased to be teaching at a school that introduces World Languages to students at an early age. Last year it was so satisfying to see the progress in the children’s ability to understand and speak Spanish. This year I am very excited to have my own room! All of the students will be learning through songs, group work, flashcards, partner conversations and projects.
