HGMICS Students Visit The Tannersville Cranberry Bog Preserve
On Thursday, September 29, 2022, HGMICS Upper students traveled to Tannersville Cranberry Bog in East Stroudsburg, PA to participate in a hands-on environmental education opportunity. DiscoverNEPA.com states, “The Tannersville Cranberry Bog Preserve is an ecosystem unlike any other in NEPA. This preserve, which is owned by The Nature Conservancy, was once a home to a large glacial lake. Over thousands of years, the lake transformed into the southernmost low-elevation boreal bog on the eastern seaboard. The bog is home to diverse plant life, including native orchids, carnivorous plants, and several endangered species.” The trip proved to be a wonderful addition to the students’ studies of unique ecosystems in science. https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/tannersville-cranberry-bog-preserve/
